Spend time with intelligent people. Find people who are smarter than you. Spend as much time as you can with them.
Read. Read books, read articles, read everything! If you don’t expose yourself to new ideas or information, how will you know what you don’t know?
Listen more than you talk. Clarity of thought can be gained by talking. New information can only be acquired by listening. Do it as much as possible and soak in everything you can.
Get experience. Intelligence is best gained by first-hand experience. Learn about sports by playing them. Learn science by experimenting. Learn about cultures and languages by immersing yourself in them.
Be bored. Don’t turn to your phone in spare moments. Just think. With technology at our fingertips, humans are never bored anymore. This is a tragedy, as boredom is when we problem solve and think creatively.
Sleep. Lack of sleep decreases productivity, decreases focus, and slows brain function. You will gain much more intelligence when your brain is working at optimal levels. Give it the rest it needs.
Try new things. You think creatively by drawing from experience. The more experiences you can draw from, the more creatively you can think.

Exercise your creativity muscle : Everyone tells you to be creative yet nobody tells you how to. James Altucher refers to creativity as a muscle which needs to be built and flexed everyday, so that it can be put to use and give results, when you need it the most. Altucher recommends writing 10 ideas everyday to become an idea machine.
Spend time with intelligent people : Scientifically proven, you’re the average of 5 people you spend most time with. That’s why wrestlers stay with wrestlers and terrorists with terrorists. They understand one another better while their personalities rub off one another in the background. Be with intelligent if you want to be intelligent.
Automate operational work : Almost all tasks which can be done, performed or completed absent-mindedly can be, in fact ought to be automated. Or you can multitask them with something strategic. Walk while reading, listen to a podcast while ironing clothes or write a poem while pooping.
Figure out your brain : Everyone has a unique mind. You might have not thought of it, but there’s a place where ideas pop out like fizz from a can. There’s an environment where your productivity enhances. There’s a time of the day when your brain is at its peak. Start understanding your brain more and look for these signs.
Solve stuff : Solve sudoku. Solve puzzles. Solve guesstimates. Solve quizzes. Solve crosswords. Solve linear equations. Solve things which have no relation with your work whatsoever.
Read your bum off : Read about stuff you know about and about stuff don’t know about. Read about things you like and about things you loath. Read each and every single day of your breathing life. If you want to make sure you’ve learnt something from the read, try explaining it to a 5 year old.
Embed physical exercise in your daily routine : It’s scientifically proven that exercise leads to a sharper and clearer brain. In case you’re the busiest apple on the entire planet, walk to the office while reading a book/listening to a podcast.
Discuss what you do : Watch a movie and discuss it. Read a book and discuss it. Listen to a podcast and discuss it. Write an article and discuss it. Do a new thing and discuss it. And try not to form an opinion about it at the same time.
Watch disconnected content : Watch mythology. Watch cartoons. Watch French or Spanish TV shows without subtitles. Watch self-styled godmen Astha channel. You’d get exposed to so much of varied content and persepectives.
Take brain breaks : Go for a walk / listen to jazz or Beethoven / lock yourself in a room and meditate / deep breath in your bed or office desk / tear a piece of paper and doodle. Any of these can fill your brain with the white space it wants in between tasks and remove brain fog.
Sleep : A good quality sleep doesn’t consume time. It constructs time. And energy. And clarity. And creativity. And mindfulness. And productivity. And wisdom. And motivation. And intelligence.
Avoid the dinosaur syndrome : Be aware that there are as many as 18 studies which show and prove that as your weight goes up, the actual physical size and function of your brain goes down. Keep a check on your heaviness and try not to make the planet heavier than it already is.
